Frank Lampard and Dider Drogba won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and a Champions League together in what was a golden era for Chelsea. But they are team-mates no longer. The duo both moved to MLS last summer and received a positive reception. However, their success since moving to the league has been contrasting.Only injury denied Lampard the chance to play against former Blues team-mate Drogba for the first time, and with the Ivorians Montreal scoring a late equaliser to deny Lampards New York City all three points last night, we assess their time in MLS so far and look at whats been said about them. How have they been getting on?Frank Lampard Frank Lampard has not played for New York City FC so far this season because of injury In 2015, frustrations from New York City FC fans were made clear before Lampards arrival as he decided to stay at Manchester City until the summer rather than play for the brand new MLS franchise from the start of the season. The sense of annoyance remains even into his first full season at the club.Injuries plagued Lampards start and he did not make his debut for NYCFC until August 1 as a late substitute. The former Chelsea midfielder scored three times in 10 appearances while also getting one assist as his side failed to reach the MLS Eastern Conference play-offs, finishing the regular season in eighth place. Lampard and Drogba enjoyed great success as team-mates at Chelsea It took Lampard until September 16 to record his first goal in a 3-0 win over Toronto FC.Before the start of the current 2016 campaign, Lampard told Sky Sports his hope of achieving great things in his first full season at New York City. But injuries have disrupted his campaign once again after he picked up a calf problem early in pre-season. It means he has yet to play a single minute so far in this campaign. MLS: Vieira winless run extends NYCFCs winless run has reached seven matches. Patrick Viera had hoped to have him available for Wednesdays 1-1 draw with Montreal Impact but, speaking after the game, said there remained no timescale for his highly-awaited comeback. We dont want to put any date because it would not be fair to him, Vieira said. Hes working hard, hes working well. When he will be fit, he will be in the squad.Didier Drogba Didier Drogba has been hugely impressive since joining Montreal last summer Former Chelsea ace Drogba won the hearts and minds of Montreal fans as soon as he set foot in Quebec. He was mobbed by supporters at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, and he hit the ground running on the pitch. The 37-year-old scored 12 goals in 14 regular season and play-off games for Montreal. His goal-scoring form, combined with his hold-up play, helped lift Montreal from their mid-season slump to a third-placed finish in the Eastern Conference. In the play-offs, the Impact beat arch-rivals Toronto FC in the knockout round 3-0 - Drogba scoring one - before losing to Columbus Crew in the semi-finals.Pre-season was unsettled with rumours surrounding the Impact talismans future, with strong suggestions in January that Drogba would make a return to Chelsea in a player/coach capacity. However, Drogba confirmed on Twitter that he would return to Montreal to play his first full season at the club. It took Didier Drogba just six minutes to score his first MLS goal of the season as he scored the equaliser for Montreal Impact with a backheel While his start to the campaign was delayed after not playing on turf, he has been slowly re-introduced to the line-up.He first appeared on March 19 as a substitute against FC Dallas before next coming on against Chicago Fire just under a month later for 40 minutes. In those 40 minutes, Drogba scored a sublime back-heel goal to get himself on the 2016 scoring charts. The former Ivory Coast international made his first full appearance against Canadian rivals Toronto FC last weekend, playing 90 minutes in the 2-0 loss. And with that game kicking off a run of three matches in one week, Drogba travelled with the team, started the game and created the assist for the injury time equaliser. What theyve said Speaking in January, Frank Lampard believes the new MLS season will be a fresh start for him with New York City FC Frank Lampard (Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the 2016 season): Im confident actually [about the 2016 season]. I think weve got a good squad and I think we are going to add to it and change it further. Generally, I hope well have a good season and the play-offs are a must for us.Didier Drogba (Speaking after Montreals win v Chicago on April 16): We wanted to pull off a great result here. We wanted to win. Were top of the conference, and we have to show more ambition on the road. This win does us a lot of good. What their coaches say Hes a real champion and hes going through a difficult period. New York City FC head coach Patrick Vieira New York City head coach Patrick Vieira: When you are talking about a player of his [Lampards] calibre, its always better to have him available to play games, Im feeling for him because hes a real champion and hes going through a difficult period, because of course he wants to be on the field, he wants to train and to help the team.Montreal Impact head coach Mauro Biello: He was a big part of the success of the team last year. Its important for Drogba to get minutes. Its about getting his rhythm and being available for us going forward. Get a Sky Sports Week Pass Dont miss the MLS. Watch live on NOW TV from £6.99. The Boston Celtics are blowing up their core and sent three veterans to the Brooklyn Nets, raising expectations for the Nets next season. Numbers Game examines a deal shipping Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to Brooklyn. The Nets Get: PF Kevin Garnett, SF Paul Pierce and SG Jason Terry. Garnett, 37, is a future Hall of Famer who is the only active player with more than 25,000 points and 13,000 rebounds and hes remained effective in recent years, in part because he has spent more of his time at centre. At the same time, Garnett misses more and more time with injuries -- 85 games over the last five seasons -- and his minutes (29:44 per game) were his lowest since his rookie season. Nevertheless, Garnett had 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks per game in 2012-2013, numbers that would be readily accepted in the Nets frontcourt next season. Garnett excelled at centre in recent seasons, where he is more athletic than many of the centres he matched up with. If hes spending more time at power forward for Brooklyn, he loses some of that quickness advantage. Garnett has two years and a little more than $23.5-million due over the next two seasons. While KG ranks second among active scorers, 35-year-old Paul Pierce sits fourth, but has continued to be an efficient scorer because he gets to the line about six times per game and shoots well enough from three-point range to have the same effective field goal percentage (.502) as he did when he was 29, while scoring 18.6 points and grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game. At this stage of his career, it would make sense for Pierce to handle a lesser workload, 28 minutes per game instead of 33, but he can still be a valuable contributor to the Nets offence. Pierce has one year left on his deal, paying a bit more than $15.3-million. Rounding out the aging trio of Celtics heading to Brooklyn, 35-year-old Jason Terry is coming off a season in which he played his fewest minutes per game (26.9) and his 10.1 points per game was his lowest since his rookie season, 1999-2000. While Terry played a lesser role and has a limited game, he can still shoot and, providing offence off the bench, can be a useful player in the Nets rotation. Terry has two years, and $10.675-million left on his deal. The Nets are obviously a better team with this trio added to the mix, but is it enough for them to compete with the best teams in the East? That still seems like its beyond their reach. The Celtics Get: SF Gerald Wallace, PF Kris Humphries, SG MarShon Brooks, SF Kris Joseph, SG Keith Bogans and first-round picks in 2014, 2016 and 2018, with an option to flip first-round picks in 2017. Wallace, 30, has been a very effective if oft-injured player in his career, but hes coming off a season in which he scored just 7.77 points per game, shooting 39.dddddddddddd7% from the field, his lowest in both categories since 2003-2004. While Wallace is an offensive liability at this point, he can still play adequate defence but, given whats left on the Boston roster, they probably need him to be more than a one-dimensional defender if hes going to provide any value. Wallace has three years, at more than $30.3-million, left on his contract. 28-year-old Kris Humphries had been a productive player from a couple seasons with the Nets, averaging a double-double (points and rebounds) for 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, but his role was reduced significantly last season and he averaged 5.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Hes a notorious black hole on offence, never averaging more than 1.5 assists per game. His expiring deal could provide future value to the Celtics and, given their needs up front, Humphries could find some playing time as part of the Celtics rotation. Humphries has one season, at $12-million, remaining on his deal. Brooks is a 24-year-old who had a pretty strong rookie season, scoring 12.6 points per game, in 2011-2012, but was a spare part last season, playing only 12:29 per game after playing 29:23 as a rookie. Hell have a chance to play a larger role in a depleted Celtics perimeter rotation. Brooks is due less than $1.3-million next season, the last year of his entry-level deal, though theres a team option for $2.3-million the following season. A second-round pick of the Celtics in 2012, Kris Joseph played 54 minutes with Boston and New Jersey last season. The 24-year-old Montreal native is still battling for a spot in the league and his contract has a team option, for $788,872 in 2013-2014. Bogans inclusion in the deal could work out really well for the 33-year-old who actually played more than Brooks for the Nets last season. As a sign-and-trade piece to this trade, to make the salaries balance, Bogans could be looking at a contract that pays him approximately $4.4-million next season, a veritable jackpot for an aging role player whose defence isnt near what it once was. He might find a spot in the Celtics rotation, or could be stuck with playing time scraps. Boston has decided to rebuild for the future but arent exactly bottoming out as they shed three core veterans. Taking on Wallaces three-year contract, in particular, isnt conducive to regenerating the roster, but the rest of the financial obligations are minimal and the Celtics can see what Jeff Green and J.J. Sullinger can provide in more significant roles alongside PG Rajon Rondo, who is unquestionably the leader of this team now.
